Creative Arts&Technologies Learning Team
Team Overview
The CATS team consists of many of the practical areas of the school curriculum and is delivered by sixteen specialists. The subjects within the faculty are: Design Technology & Engineering, Child & Health Care, Food & Nutrition, Art, Design & Photography, and Music. The CATS Team are committed to raising the standards of teaching in the classroom and examinations results.
The learning environment offers up to date machinery and equipment, with two specialist technicians in supporting roles. The team also enjoys close links with other colleges and educational establishments to enrich the delivery of our Hospitality & Catering course and our music tuition.
All subjects are taught in mixed ability classes at KS3, 4 and 5
Key Stage 3
Students work on a two year progamme of study before they can opt for BTEC subjects in Year 9. The CATS Team offer a wide variety of choices at this level including Music, Art, Jamie Oliver’s Cookery Club, Fashion & Textiles, Product Design and Engineering.
Key Stage 4
The team offers GCSE courses in Art, Child Development, Food and Nutrition and Product Design. We also offer BTEC courses in Art, Catering and Hospitality, Children's Care, Learning and Development, Engineering,Jamie Oliver Home Cooking Skills and Music. Students and staff are committed to offering extra curricular clubs across all year groups and enter Rotary Club Cookery competitions, Art Competitions and STEM Engineering events.
Key Stage 5
We offer BTEC Level 3 Awards in Engineering, Children's Care, Learning and Development and Music and GCE AS & A2 courses in Art and Design and Photography. Throughout these two years students are encouraged to develop individual projects and work alongside trained specialists.
