Humanities Team
Team Overview
The Humanities team are responsible for the delivery of Psychology, Geography, Government and Politics, BTEC Travel and Tourism, Citizenship, RE, Humanities and History which we do with energy and enthusiasm. Within the team we are all committed to raising standards.
The learning environment incorporates an IT room and each classroom is well equipped and we adapt our teaching to include all three learning styles – visual, auditory and kinaesthetic. We are a successful department and our team members are very committed to continually raising standards.
Key Stage 3
In Year 7 a modular approach has been adopted and students are taught RE, Geography and History in topics throughout the year. In Year 8 the subjects are taught separately. We offer GCSE’s at the end of Year 9 in Humanities.
Key Stage 4
In Key Stage 4 students can opt to study GCSE History, Geography, RE and BTEC Travel and Tourism.
Key Stage 5
Students can study Psychology, Geography, History and Government and Politics at A Level.
There are fieldwork opportunities which include day trips to Grassington, Richmond Castle and places of worship as well as residential visits to the Lake District and Berlin. Our students in Humanities are encouraged to be independent and self-motivated.
