Team Overview

The team comprises the Special Educational Needs Coordinator, Student Support Administration, a Higher Level Teaching Assistant and a Learning Support Assistant who are committed to supporting the learning of students in Key Stage 3, 4 and 5 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. We are proud that the support we offer is highly flexible and personalised to suit the needs of each learner. In addition, we have a team of First Aiders to support the health needs of our learners and a full time Child Protection Officer.

We offer a range of support:

  • Some students have targeted interventions in groups or individually to target their specific needs. At present our groups include numeracy, literacy, spelling, emotional literacy, touch typing and mentoring. We also run a reading recovery programme.
  • Some students are supported by a Learning Support Assistant in their mainstream lessons to help them access the curriculum. Some students have personalised timetables to support their needs.
  • Many of our students have Pathways, written in consultation with parents and carers, to ensure that students with complex learning needs are given the best chance to make progress. These are monitored and updated at least termly.
