The Leeds United Foundation Scholarship Programme
Are you Male or Female footballer aged 16 – 18 and interested in combining a level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in Sport (Performance and Excellence) and full time professional football training schedule with The Leeds United Foundation? Our Football Development Scholarship programme in partnership with Boston Spa Sports School may well be the place for you. Based at Elland Road, home of Leeds United FC, this unique 2 year full time course aims to give our students the best opportunity to excel in the classroom, as well as on the pitch. On completion of the course, students will attain the equivalent of 3 A levels which is required to continue to study at degree level.
Students will receive three afternoons of football training sessions led by Leeds United Foundation UEFA B coaches who will focus on individual levels of fitness, technical and tactical work and the psychological aspects of the game, as well as competing in the newly formed Yorkshire Foundation League against the likes of Barnsley, Sheffield United, Sheffield Wednesday, Rotherham United, Huddersfield Town and Nottingham Forest, plus other regional league and cup competitions each week.
For females who enroll on the course we have playing opportunities too in the Yorkshire league. As we promote the female game, we also offer a female players the opportunity to join our mentoring scheme. This is to enhance their coaching and leadership ability.
The programme has also had many successes over the years winning numerous cups and competitions with many of the players going on to play at higher levels besides gaining places at Universities. There is also an opportunity to continue to develop on a Foundation Degree in Sports Coaching within The Leeds United Foundation.
All our students will are offered the opportunity to complete the FA Level 1 Coaching Certificate and other FA qualifications plus other Sports Leadership Awards and the opportunity to gain coaching experience in the community with The Leeds United Foundation.
