We are absolutely delighted for our Year 11 students today. They have achieved spectacular results, a record year for Boston Spa Academy.
There are some amazing individual performances with students achieving 8 or 9 GCSEs at 9, and many many students who have achieved above their expected grades right across their subjects. The whole year group have achieved significantly, and we are very proud of them all.
Perhaps most notable achievement of their achievements are in mathematics, where 19% of all candidates achieved a grade 9, and in English which has seen a positive shift on Progress 8 of over 0.8 in just two years.
We are so pleased for all the families, and offer our congratulations.
In terms of national performance indicators these results are a cause for celebration, with Year 11 creating the following headlines:
Indicative Progress 8: 0.44
Attainment 8: 54.06
Both English and Maths at a ‘good’ pass at grades 9 to 5: 64%
Both English and Maths at a ‘standard’ pass at grades 9 to 4: 79%
Progress in English Baccalaureate: 0.29
This all presents a powerful 3 year trend of consistent improvement:
|English Baccalaureate progress||0.00||-0.01||0.29|
|Top GCSE grades at 9 to 8||7%||12%||17%|
|GCSE ‘good’ passes at grades 9 to 5||54%||56%||61%|
|GCSE ‘standard’ passes at grades 9 to 4||76%||75%||78%|
|English and Mathematics||2017||2018||2019|
|Achieving both at a ‘good’ pass, grades 9 to 5||49%||47%||64%|
|Achieving both at ‘standard’ pass 9 to 4||68%||70%||79%|
I am thrilled for all of our young people today.
I am also pleased for our Governors, who took the bold and courageous decision for us to convert to become part of The GORSE Academies Trust, and for their decision to be vindicated with such a powerful set of outcomes for young people is an absolute delight.
