Maths is taught in ability sets from Year 7 to 11

Students learn a variety of topics such as Using and Applying Mathematics, Number, Algebra, Handling Data, Shape, Space and Measure. This curriculum is designed to allow students to pick up all the necessary skills to move them into their GCSE programe in Year 9.  Throughout the year students are regularly assessed using exam style questions and Assessing Pupil Progress frameworks.  There is a formal exam at the end of each year to fully assess progress made. We also enter a large number of students for the UK Secondary Maths Challenge.

We offer GCSE Statistics as an option in Year 9 which allows students to choose an extra maths qualification.

Students follow the Edexcel Linear GCSE course.    Throughout the course students are regularly assessed using exam style questions with a formal exam at the end of each year to assess progress made.

We offer GCSE Statistics as an option in Year 9 which allows students to choose an extra maths qualification.

We follow the OCR MEI A level course. A level Maths is a popular course with two sets in Year 12 as well as Further Maths. All A level classes have five periods of taught lessons, which are shared between two members of staff and one dedicated Maths study period.
